YEGBMX COACHES
Ben Streadwick - HEAD coach for the Edmonton BMX racing club and I also offer private one on one or group sessions to riders of all ages and abilities. I have been coaching BMX since 2019 and am NCCP certified to coach cycling.
My vision for the 2026 BMX season as a coach is to create a learning environment where athletes feel empowered to set goals, leave their comfort zone and challenge themselves to new skills. I look to support riders as they ride the highs and lows of the year to help them ride to their potential and see growth in themselves. Most of all I hope to help BMX racers fall in love with the sport and see all that it has to offer.
In my BMX career, I have competed at the Junior Devo and the Junior level at the provincial and national level earning numerous AB plates and national plates. I also had the privilege of being able to compete at the 2017 world championships in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
I enjoy being able to work through each challenge and milestone with riders and find so much joy in helping someone achieve their goals and in helping riders find success regardless of where they finish on the track.
If anyone is interested in receiving private sessions with me please contact me either by phone or email and hopefully we will be out on the track getting better soon.

Coach MARC, My vision for the year is to create an environment where riders of all skill levels and abilities feel comfortable to challenge their skills. For each rider to not only enhance skills that they already have, but learn new skills. Most importantly I want to make sure that all riders are enjoying themselves as they grow and progress through the sport.
Coach Maddie,
My goal is to create a fun environment where every rider feels comfortable and excited to learn. I want to help riders build essential skills on their bike, feel confident, and most importantly I hope they enjoy coming to the track. I plan to integrate my knowledge of exercise physiology with my knowledge of racing bikes to help take riders to the next level, wherever they’re at. Helping athletes work towards a goal is such an awesome thing to witness and I can’t wait to see what all of our riders accomplish this season, I love seeing the excitement when riders learn something new. I also hope to be a positive role model for the younger generation and keep them coming back to BMX year after year.
Maddie Bio:
I raced when I was younger (2010-2013), then ventured onto other things and took a long break from BMX. In 2024 I decided to come back and race again! My first year back I raced 25-29 expert and earned the AB1 plate, I now race in the elite women’s category. I love BMX because there’s always something to work on. You can show up to the track, try new things, and see all of the progress you’ve made come to light when you race.
Coach Taryn:
My goal for this year is to help all racers to truly enjoy riding their bikes and gain confidence with every practice. I believe that racers can improve the most when they are doing it for FUN! I hope to encourage all our riders to try new things and go out of their comfort zones this season, while also ensuring to create a space where they can make great memories. I love watching riders progress throughout the year and seeing all their hard work pay off, and I’m super excited to see all they can accomplish in 2026!
I have raced at Edmonton BMX for 13 years, which of 5 have been competing in the Junior Development and Junior Women’s category. I’ve represented Team Alberta for a large part of my time racing, and have been able to travel all around Canada, USA, and even overseas to compete in the world championships. I have been an NCCP certified coach for 3 years, coaching all ages of novice riders, girls only practices, and private lessons. BMX has been such a huge part of my life, and a passion that I’m so excited to share with upcoming racers! My goal for this year is to help all racers to truly enjoy riding their bikes and gain confidence with every practice.
